Chapter 1.11: Change of Heart

Juniper smiled down at Isobel, her first born daughter, and smiles as she sees the smile on her daughters face. It had taken a year for Isobel to get used to Serene, the little girl giggling her arms. A very long year, a year where Isobel sometimes yelled and through tantrums because she thought Serene was taking her away. It had deeply pained Juniper to see her daughter so upset, and she wanted nothing more than to see both her children be happy.

Toby had finally gotten through to her, telling her that they would love them both the same and take them both out on fun adventures. It had been a slow process with Isobel, but eventually she came around and even spent hours talking to Serene when she was baby.

"Mama, can I play with Serene now?" Isobel asked her. Juniper laughed, now she had to worry about Isobel keeping Serene up all the time. "Isobel," she said to the toddler.

"I... Is?" Serene asked. This made her laugh, the girl was so enchanted by Isobel and Isobel was clearly enchanted by Serene.

"Alright, but only for 30 minutes," Juniper told Isobel and set the toddler down. She watched as Isobel took Serene's hand and went off to their room to play. Juniper would have to come back later to make sure they weren't playing too rough or anything children do while playing.Going downstairs, she spotted Toby and smiled at him.

"How are the little ones?" Toby asked her. Juniper chuckled, and then walked over to him; she pulled him into his arms and planted a big kiss on his cheek. "That good, huh?" he asked. "Maybe we could make one more, hmm?"

"Nope, two is more than enough," Juniper said, smacking his backside playfully. "I'm getting on the pill, so no more little humans are coming from me," she said.

"We did good," Toby told her as they sat on the couch. Yeah, they did. She hadn't been sure about the second one, but somehow the giggling little girl had them all wrapped around their fingers.

"Yeah, I did all the work though!" Juniper laughed.

"Really, I seem to recall you just laying there while I did all the work," Toby said, chuckling.

"Doesn't count, you didn't push either of them out of you," Juniper said with a smirk. She would never be the same after those two, and she didn't care. She loved both of them so much, so much that her heart ached in her chest sometimes and so much that she often got teary eyed. "I would have never guessed that having two beautiful children would turn out to be what I was missing for all those years," she said.

"I know, I never thought I would be with someone so captivating and be the father of two lovely children either. I would say fate led us here, lead us to our family but really I think you just needed someone to be here for you," Toby said softly.
