Serene woke up the next morning in her bed with no memory of how she got back home, but she could vividly remember everything else. The last thing the guide told her is that she had a choice to make, and it would change a lot of things. She decided that she would not spend her tenth birthday upset and confused, nope it wasn't going to happen. A girl only turns ten once, and she was going to make the most of it. Serene walked downstairs to see her mama cooking something, and smiled. Today, she wasn't going to worry about what happened to her papa, because today she was going to pretend everything was okay. The person who had called her name, or rather called out to her was the same hooded black figure she remembered seeing her mama talk to. "Who are you?" Serene asked, trying to act brave. "Child, come with me," the hooded figure said. Her blood ran cold upon hearing its voice and her eyes narrowed. She didn't know this thing, or what it wanted but for some reason she didn't think it would hurt her. "Tell me something first," Serene said. The figured nodded, and then waited for her to ask her question. "Were you the thing that spoke to my mama that day after my papa died?" she asked. "I am but, child I am not a thing. She had asked for space, and he gave it to her but this wasn't space. Why was she doing this? Hayden didn't want to storm in there and cause a scene, after all he still couldn't get in trouble and so he turned around. Hayden looked down at his phone, grimacing at the wallpaper it had as he could remember when they took this picture, eight months ago before her step father or step whatever passed away. His mind slowly drifted off as he waited for her at the Art Museum, the one he took her to on their first date... Serene stood in the park waiting for the few friends she actually trusted to show up, and sighed this was a hard choice. She liked all her friends, especially Xena who was alien but the decision to disband her previous club wasn't anything personal. Okay, that was a lie.
