Chapter 1.23: Changed

Isobel couldn't remember a time where her life was more complicated than it was now, and she was really missing the days where her life was simple. She shook her head, the night before the party was insane and very confusing. It was magical, sweet and romantic.

But it wasn't Hayden that shared a night with her, it was Seth Marino. The bold and daring red headed boy who was mostly an asshole but was also very sweet towards her. After Toby had died, she was inconsolable and wouldn't see anyone, not even Hayden who treated her right and cared for her was able to console her. She spiraled, a dark and twisted spiral.

Seth Marino, the boy who literally told her to get over herself because it had been six months since Toby died. Six months had passed where everyone and everything around her was moving on, changing for the better while she was simply doing worse.

Ever since then, she would invite him over and they would hangout. The usual movies, chess, swimming and relaxing in the hot tub. The night before the party though was a little more intense, more heated than usual and more sensual. Isobel couldn't deny her attraction to Seth that night, his gentle touches and his hot breath on her skin.

She took his face in her hands and brushed her lips against his own. Her breaths grew uneven as his hand rested on her thigh and another on the nape of her neck. "Iss," Seth breathed as he looked at her with so much passion and warmth. The movies failed to do it justice, portraying the scenes with fast paced action and much too many sounds when in reality it was silent where no one needed words to express the intimacy between two people.

It was in that moment where she knew this wasn't a mistake not when she could see it in his eyes and her own a mirror of what he felt. "Yes," Isobel whispered.

Every touch was filled with the warmth and passion they had for each other; nothing compared to this moment. The moment where she gave herself to the one person who had been there for her and helped her get better, who made her feel like the world wasn't a broken place anymore. It was also the moment where she transitioned from a girl to a woman.

Later that night, she would write in her journal about what had happened and how different she felt, more confident. For the first time in a long time she no longer felt the crippling pain of losing a loved one, and she truly smiled.
