Chapter 1.31: Fact or Fiction?

"I don't understand, you saw her make out with Seth. Why are you giving her another chance?" Caleb asked him. Hayden sighed, he didn't know how else to explain it to Caleb. Isobel was a once in a lifetime kind of girl, and one he cared for. Why would he give up on her?

"I care about her, and I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt," Hayden said. The two of them were standing outside of Seth's house, and even though neither of them really wanted to be here, Hayden had insisted. "Now, this is simple. We go in and chat with them, then we leave," Hayden said.

"I still don't get it, it's not like she's something special," Caleb said. "I mean, she clearly doesn't feel the same about you, or else she wouldn't be screwing around with Seth," he said, trying to convince Hayden to walk away. He shook his head, maybe Caleb would find someone worth fighting for one day and he would get it then.

"Come on, let's get this over with," Hayden said, then walked up to their door. Unfortunately, Seth wasn't the one who answered the door. It was his no good sister, Valentine who answered the door. He couldn't help but stare at her, and then his face turned red. She was as beautiful as ever, and it still hurt to think about her.

"What do you want Hayden?" Valentine asked, clearly annoyed to see him. He smirked, yeah, she still had that attitude problem too.

"Is your brother here?" Caleb asked.

"Not right now, but he should be home soon. Why? What are you going to do to him this time?" Valentine demanded.

"We just want to talk," Caleb answered.

"Fine, if that's all,"  Valentine said, then led them to their living room.

"You look good Val," Hayden said as she sat down. She glared at him, and he watched as her eyes narrowed. "Life treating you good?" he asked, trying to make small talk. He went to sit next her but she got up, and muttered something under her breath.

"I'm not playing your game, so knock it off," Valentine snapped at him.

"What game?" Hayden asked.

"The game you play with everyone you talk to," Valentine said, her fist were now clinched. Seth came into the room and stormed over to them, he was already pissed off from it what it looked like.

"Get the hell away from my sister!" Seth yelled, and took his sisters hand. "Did he touch you?" he asked her. Valentine shook her head, and he sighed in relief. "Good, I'll kill him if he does," he said.

"Really? I seem to recall your sister starting everything," Hayden said.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Valentine snapped. "You were the one who started it," she argued. "I was drunk, and you knew that. You knew I wasn't able to....." she said quietly.

"You weren't drunk," Hayden said. "You wanted privacy, and I went with you upstairs that night to make sure you didn't fall and hurt yourself. You pulled me on top of you. You said you wanted to," Hayden argued.

"I WAS DRUNK!" Valentine yelled. "You took advantage of me, and then my brother found us. Thank God, he did," she said shakily. He watched as they sat down and Seth tried to comfort his sister.

"Well, I'm not here to argue what happened that night. If you go near Isobel again Seth, you'll regret it," Hayden said and then called Caleb. "We're leaving now," he said and they left the siblings there on the couch.

  1. So now we see why Seth hates Hayden...somehow though I believe Hayden. Don't ask me why....

  2. Hayden needs to have a loooooong talk with a life coach about what constitutes consent because he did NOT have it with Valentine, ugh.

Hayden thinks he's "fighting" for Isobel? Where? Letting her lie to him, pretending she's as into him as he's into her, that's not fighting. I can't with this guy.
