Chapter 1.01: A New Nanny

 1.0 Isobel's Early Days
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juniper let the soft and lovely notes of the piano flow through her, helping to relax her stiff and aching muscles. Isobel was getting bigger, and wanted to play more often which led to stiff muscles.... The piano was an escape into a lovely world where she could imagine herself running through trails and taking in scenery.

Of course, she could have meditated but that was a rarity these days, her silly little girl required almost all of her attention and left very little time for to unwind. Junipers peace came to an end when she heard little footsteps upstairs, shaking her head at the unbelievable amount of energy the little girl had as she got up. Maybe, if she was lucky she could help Isobel learn some basics, but only if the girl would put up with it.

Mizuki's angry statements about Isobel not being disciplined flashed in her mind. Sighing, she walked up the stairs to Isobel's room. She knew Mizuki was right, but it was SO hard because she was her only daughter, more than that, she was her only child. How could she say no?

Luckily she got to see the sweet little girl sometimes and not the hot headed brat she could sometimes be. "Mama," Isobel said. She watched as her daughter stopped what she was doing and came over to her. Juniper smiled, it was so sweet and she pulled out some flash cards, time to take advantage.

"What is this?" Juniper asked. Isobel sat there, staring at her for good long moment.

"Tree!" Isobel said excitably, clapping her hands together in excitement. Juniper laughed, she supposed a tree was close enough to broccoli.

"Broccoli, this is a vegetable," Juniper said gently.

"Bro... Brocc?" Isobel asked, this made her smile. Already trying to pronounce the word, what a smart girl she had.

"Broccoli," Juniper repeated for her.

"Brocc.... Brocci?" Isobel tried to say. Juniper laughed. It was almost time for work, again. Juniper had fired Mizuki, she wasn't that good of a Nanny and certainly had no right to say what she had. Isobel had discipline, she just chose not to care sometimes.

  1. I love the way you spelled out Isobel's attempts at pronouncing broccoli. Even though she's a handful, she's still so adorable. I get why Juniper has a hard time saying no to her.

  2. Broccoli is a hard word for a kid. I totally understand, Isobel.
